Six Connecticut residents are listed in the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans that came out Sept. 27 and features the richest men and women in the country.

The six residents in Connecticut featured are Ray Dalio, Steve Cohen, Karen Pritzker, Todd Boehly, Brad Jacobs and Stephen Mandel, Jr. According to Forbes, Dalio, Cohen and Mandel, Jr. got their of wealth from hedge funds, Pritzker from hotels and investments, Boehly from finance and Jacobs from logistics. Their combined net worth totals $55 billion.

Dalio, a Greenwich resident and founder of Bridgewater Associates, has the highest net worth out of the six, coming in $19.1 billion. Cohen, who oversees Stamford's Point72 Asset Management and is the owner of the New York Mets, has the second highest, with a net worth of $17.5 billion; he also lives in Greenwich.

Out of the six that are featured in Forbes' 2022 list, all but Boehly were also included in the 2021 list. Boehly made his way in by founding the holding company Eldridge Industries based in Greenwich and also recently became the owner of the professional soccer team Chelsea FC. His net worth comes in $5.3 billion.

Forbes also reported that Dalio and Mandel, Jr. saw their net worths decline since 2021 and Pritzker and Jacobs saw their net worths stay the same. Cohen was the only Connecticut billionaire listed who saw an increase in their net worth from 2021.

This year was the first that, "the superrich did not get richer," since the Great Recession, Forbes noted. This year's Forbes 400 class came in $500 billion poorer than the 2021 class, with their total net worth at $4 trillion dollars — down 11 percent from the year before. This also caused the threshold to be included in the Forbes 400 to drop $200 million, meaning a minimum net worth of $2.7 billion.

Elon Musk came in as Forbes' richest person in America for the first time in 2022, ending Jeff Bezos' four-year run at the top. Musk's estimated net worth is $251 billion, which is over 13 times richer than Dalio, the richest person in Connecticut.
