As the demand for programs offered by the Wilton Youth Council increases, the organization is seeking people willing to volunteer their time in leadership roles, particularly in marketing, publicity, fundraising, communications, and in supporting class projects.

According to the council, its Y2Y, C.O.D.E.S., Peer Connection, PeerVention and Parent Connection/Father’s Forum programs are in strong demand among middle and high school students and parents. Research-based evidence indicates “these programs can be effective in positively influencing our children’s social choices as well as empowering them with skills in leadership, peer-to-peer support and in identifying resources for advice and intervention,” the council said in a press release.

Since much of the group’s funding for these programs comes from grants, fundraising, and appeals, the council needs to swell its ranks of volunteers. Those who step forward will be able to shadow people already in those positions.
