Youth council accepts $5,000 gift

Kevin Wall, son of the late Art Wall, presented a check for $5,000 to Maria Wilcox of Wilton Youth Council on Sept. 30.

“It gives me great pleasure to present this check on behalf of the golfers and businesses who supported our 16th Annual Art Wall Golf Classic” Mr. Wall said. On Sept. 12, more than 140 golfers gathered at Whitney Farms Golf Course in Monroe.

“We simply cannot achieve the success we enjoy without the support of businesses and golfers and we are extremely grateful for the long-standing support we have been given over the years”  Mr. Wall said.

Due to the success of the annual golf outing, the Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund started its Community Outreach Program in 2012 to assist other 501 (c)(3) organizations that are dedicated towards helping the Wilton community those. Past recipients have been Trackside Teen Center (2012) and Wilton Police Gift Fund (2013).

Wilton Youth Council is dedicated to positive development of social and emotional environment of youth via programming and sponsoring Wilton Class Projects, which provide drug- and alcohol-free events for both parents and teens and the annual Post Graduation Party (PPG).

“The support we received from The Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund ensures we will be able to offer programming for another full year and we could not be more thrilled to be the 2014 Community Outreach Recipient,” Ms. Wilcox said.

On Oct. 21, Wilton Youth Council, along with fellow sponsors Wilton Public Schools, Wilton Youth Services and Silver Hill Hospital, will present “Rebound: The Chris Herren Story” at 6:30 in the Clune Center.
