The Wilton Woman’s Club directed its fundraising efforts through its annual spring fashion show to help reduce the incidence of sexual assault and domestic violence. To that end, with October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the club has donated $20,000 to the Domestic Violence Crisis Center for the work it does in providing a safe house for victims, medical and legal advocacy, counseling, and job support.

The club also gave $24,000 to the Wilton Domestic Violence Task Force which will use the money to:

  • Hire Jeffrey Bucholtz from We End Violence to present and implement the Agent of Change Curriculum in the public schools.

  • Challenge gender roles and stereotyping, to help create a more open and respectful cultural environment.

  • Acquire a speaker, in conjunction with the Wilton Youth Council and Weston, to educate parents within the two communities about sexting and pornography.

The club will hold its annual spring fashion show fund-raiser on April 4, 2019, again at Rolling Hills Country Club. The beneficiary will be announced in December. Information: wiltonwomansclub.org .
