With snow and ice in the forecast, Wilton public schools and offices are closed today, Feb. 7.

The YMCA is open but all program and group fitness classes before noon are canceled, including classes held at the gymnastics center. Nursery School, the After-school Program and Child Watch are also canceled. Babysitting will be canceled unless staff can get in. A decision on afternoon classes will be made by 11:30.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for this area until 5 this afternoon. Up to two inches of snow is expected, with as much as five inches possible in northern Fairfield County. Freezing rain and sleet are also expected. Up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible.

Snow, freezing rain, and sleet are forecast before 2, then freezing rain between 2 and 3, then rain after 3. The high will be near 38. Wind chill values will make it feel like 15 to 25 degrees.

Metro-North reports good service on the New Haven and Danbury Branch lines this morning.
