Wilton's Visiting Nurse & Hospice offers grief support

Wilton’s Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer an eight-week bereavement support group to help adults cope with loss following the death of a parent.

The bereavement support group for those who have lost a parent will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 3 until 4:30 beginning Jan. 15 and continuing through March 5.

“In this support group we will address common reactions to the death of a parent including depression, anger, fear, loneliness and guilt,” said the Rev. Marti Bishop, an interfaith minister and grief and bereavement counselor with the nursing agency. “While the death of a parent is an expected life cycle event, it is the loss of the most fundamental relationship in our lives and the effect can be profound.”

The group will meet at the agency’s offices in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center at iPark, 761 Main Avenue (Route 7) on the Norwalk/Wilton town line.

This support group is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required. Call  203-834-6341, ext. 255.
