Wilton Woman’s Club delivers holiday meals

The Wilton Woman's Club spent Dec. 24 delivering holiday meals to 50 homebound seniors in Wilton, following in the club’s tradition of service to the community. Club members made all elements of the meal in advance — turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, and dessert — and brought them to Trackside on Christmas Eve when 10 dedicated members then festively packaged the meals, and delivered them to residents in Wilton.

“Providing holiday meals for our homebound seniors is a tradition that I am proud to be a part of,” said Community Service Chair Suzy Curtice, “Watching our members come together to offer this gift to the community is the kind of thing that makes the season special and is what the [club] is all about, service to our community and reaching out to our neighbors. Working together we can make a difference.”

“Every year club members enjoy making, assembling, and delivering meals to the homebound in Wilton,” said Events Co-Chair Mariann Bigelow, “We look forward to working together to give back to the community in this way and have fun doing it.”

Communications Chair Andrea Bates commented, “This is a huge job and Suzy and Deb [Miller] really stepped up to do a lot of shopping, preparing, and then going to Trackside on Dec. 24 with the other volunteers. We are so appreciative of our great volunteers, including members’ daughters, who are getting involved in community service early!”

The club is especially thankful to the Village Market for donating all containers for pies, sauces and gravy, and to Trackside Executive Director Mark Ketley and Trackside for donating space for the club to assemble the meals.

This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Wilton Woman’s Club. The group is a place where women come together for education, philanthropy, community service, and socializing. The club’s annual Fashion Show and Lunch is set for Friday, April 1, at Rolling Hills, which this year will help fund the Wilton section of the Norwalk River Valley Trail.
