Persistent overall dry conditions have triggered a drought advisory from South Norwalk Electric and Water. The agency’s reservoir levels are at 45%, according to a press release issued late last week.

The agency “is strongly requesting that our customers conserve water at this time with an overall goal of a 10% reduction in water use.”

Customers are urged to reduce outdoor use by watering lawns less frequently and allowing grass to grow longer as taller grass requires less water; refrain from washing vehicles or to do so with a bucket of soapy water to wash and use a hose only for rinsing.

Indoors, customers should check toilets for leaks and repair them right away, and run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
