Wall fund supports two community organizations
This year, the Arthur J. Wall Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund selected two community outreach recipients to mark the celebration of 20 years of awarding scholarships to graduating seniors of Wilton High School and 20 years of golf outing fund-raisers. The fund awarded $5,000 to both the Wilton Library Association for Children's Library programs and the Child Guidance Center of Mid-Fairfield County in Norwalk to fund its Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program. This program helps adolescents at risk of suicide, who have suffered trauma, are diagnosed with borderline personality disorder or suffer from certain risky behaviors.
The total amount of community outreach awards the scholarship fund has given since 2012 is $49,000. This is in addition to almost $200,000 since 1999 it has awarded to graduating student athletes at Wilton High School who have displayed a dedication to academics and athletics as well as strong community service values and a desire to help others less fortunate.
