Flu season is fast approaching and Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will hold five flu clinics in Wilton:

• Thursday, Sept. 27, 10-noon, Wilton Senior Center, 180 School Road;

• Monday, Oct. 8, 9-11 a.m., Comstock Community Center, 180 School Road;

• Saturday, Nov. 3, 9-11 a.m., Wilton Family YMCA, 404 Danbury Road;

• Tuesday, Nov. 6, 10-noon, Wilton Senior Center, 180 School Road;

• Friday, Nov. 23, 10:30-12:30, Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road.

Anyone three years of age or older may receive the seasonal flu vaccine at these clinics and there is no residency requirement. Flu season usually begins in December, and health experts advise receiving a flu shot prior to the season's start.

Pneumonia vaccine will also be available at these clinics for adults age 65 or older who have never previously received the pneumonia vaccine.

All flu clinics are conducted on a first-come, first-served basis and appointments are not necessary. Children under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

The cost of a flu shot is $38, and $80 for the pneumonia vaccine. Cash, check, Medicare Part B and Anthem and Aetna are accepted. Please bring an insurance card. Those seeking vaccines are encouraged to wear short sleeves or sleeves that are easy to roll up.
