Vets will show off headquarters after parade
American Legion Post 86 has completed the renovations to its meeting hall at 112 Old Ridgefield Road and is celebrating in several ways.
One is a fund-raiser for which the post is selling 50 spaces in the blue field of an American flag. These spaces will be filled with military challenge coins representing some aspect of service. The cost is $25 per coin.
Participants may supply their own coin or place an order through Adjutant Tom Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org. All those who buy a space will be included in an honor roll, which will be hung next to the flag.
The community is invited to an open house at the post on Veterans Day immediately following the post’s annual parade.
The parade will step off in Wilton Center at 10:20 on Saturday, Nov. 11. Veterans and others who wish to march should meet behind Wilton Library at 10. The parade will proceed to the Veterans Memorial Green on Center Street where there will be a remembrance ceremony.
At post headquarters, coffee and light refreshments will be served throughout the day.
An awards ceremony, recognizing Post 86 members, scouts from Troop 20 and community members will be held around noon.
