Used bikes for children being collected

The Cote family of Wilton is conducting its annual kids’ used bike drive to benefit Wheels for Kids. Their target age group is 6 to 12 years old.

Specifically, they are looking for 20-inch wheeled BMX and youth bikes as well as 24-inch wheeled mountain bikes.

Not accepted are 16-inch wheeled Spiderman or Barbie Dream bikes or adult bikes.

To donate, drop any bikes off by noon on Friday, Dec. 9, at 10 Oak Ledge Lane, off Wolfpit Road, and lean them against the stone wall by the garage.

The bikes will be cleaned and tuned up Friday night at the project headquarters in Bethel. Handy volunteers are welcome to help out.

Santa arrives on a fire truck on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Danbury Youth Services, to deliver them to area children.

Over the past five or more years the group has refurbished and donated more than 1,000 bikes.

For information or to volunteer Friday, call or text Dave Cote at 203-247-3139.
