UPDATE: Suspended eastbound service from Stamford restored

Update: 9:15 a.m. — Metro-North reports all repairs have been made to the bridge and train service has been restored between South Norwalk and East Norwalk. Commuters should still anticipate delays and crowded conditions due to congestion in the South Norwalk area.

8 a.m. — Metro-North issued a service alert for the New Haven Line this morning: Eastbound train service from Stamford has been temporarily suspended due to mechanical problems with the WALK Bridge near South Norwalk.

According to the alert, Metro-North has been unable to close the WALK Bridge and crews are currently on site trying to correct the problem.

Due to the temporary suspension, limited westbound service to New York is being provided from South Norwalk, as well as limited shuttle bus service between East Norwalk and South Norwalk.

Metro-North said customers should anticipate delays and crowded conditions.
