The Wilton Family Y and the Wilton Fishing Club will present a Fall Trout Fishing Derby on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Y's Kiwanis Pond, which will be stocked with rainbow trout.

The derby is a spin-fishing event open to all ages and abilities, with no license needed. Participants should bring their own poles and gear, bait can be purchased at the derby, and Wilton Fishing Club volunteers will provide a gutting service for those wanting to take their catch home. The derby will be held rain or shine and trophies will be awarded for the three largest fish caught.

The cost is $10 per person, $7 for children under age 7, payable at the pond gate. Proceeds will benefit Y youth programs and Wilton Fishing Club activities.

The Wilton Fishing Club was launched by high school student Max Jones and fellow anglers Truman Isaacs, Harry Black, Matthew Erickson, Jack Wilkinson and Luke Goodwin to "foster the practice and enhancement of fishing and regional environmental study."
