The Wilton Conservation Commission is seeking volunteers to help reroute the red trail at Quarry Head Park on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 8:45 to noon.

Leading the effort will be master trail building instructor Dave Francefort, who will offer a training session in tool safety and benching.

“The work will not be strenuous but we have a lot of linear feet to cover to get all the way [from the picnic area] to the brook,” a press release from the conservation commission said.

“It’ll take 20 to 30 volunteers to complete the job by noon. There’ll be tasks for every level of ability. Besides wielding a tool, we’ll need help painting the new blazes, ordering the pizza, carrying water bottles-- keeping the humor level at a maximum is most important of all,” said Commissioner Donna Merrill.

Gloves, tools, lunch, and drinks will be provided. Co-sponsors are REI and Norwalk River Watershed Association. Register at conservationevent@wiltonct.org or call Merrill at 203-834-0128. Quarry Head Park is on Ridgefield Road, between numbers 760 and 764. Participants will meet at the picnic table at 8:45.
