Tracing Fotis Dulos’ movements the day Jennifer Dulos vanished

NEW CANAAN — In an interview with Dateline NBC that aired Monday night, Fotis Dulos proclaimed his innocence in his wife’s disappearance and said he believes she’s still alive.

However, police explain why they believe he’s the prime suspect in her May 24 disappearance in the latest arrest warrants.

Fotis Dulos and Michelle Troconis were arrested on a new tampering with evidence charge last week in connection with their roles in cleaning up a 2001 red Toyota Tacoma police believe was used in Jennifer Dulos’ disappearance, according to the arrest warrants.

Police say Fotis Dulos was driving the pickup, which was owned by one of his employees, the day his wife went missing.

Here’s a state police timeline based mostly on security video footage showing the movements of the pickup during a six-hour span on May 24:

6:36 a.m. — Merritt Parkway southbound, Fairfield rest area

The red Toyota Tacoma is seen on security video passing the Fairfield rest area on the southbound side of the Merritt Parkway, the warrant said. The warrant notes the location is about 14 miles and 20 to 40 minutes of travel time at 6:30 a.m. on a weekday morning from this location and where the vehicle is next spotted.

7:03 a.m. — Merritt Parkway southbound, New Canaan rest area

The Tacoma is seen passing the New Canaan rest area on the southbound side of the Merritt, the warrant said. This location is about 1.2 miles and five minutes of travel time from where the vehicle is next seen.

7:05 a.m. — Lapham Road, near Waveny Park in New Canaan

Security video footage from a New Canaan school bus traveling northbound on Lapham Road near the Merritt Parkway overpass shows an empty turnout on the side of the road. “Given the timing and location, it is believed that the Toyota arrived on Lapham Road and was parked in this turnout minutes after this bus video was recorded,” the warrant stated.

7:57 a.m. — Lapham Road turnout

Another New Canaan school bus captures video of the Tacoma still parked in the turnout.

8:05 a.m. — 69 Welles Lane, New Canaan

Jennifer Dulos’ Suburban is seen on a neighbor’s security camera returning home after she dropped off her children at their nearby school. “This photograph is the last known photograph of Jennifer alive,” the warrant said. “At the time this footage was recorded, (Fotis) Dulos is believed to have been lying in wait at 69 Welles Lane for his wife to return home. The crime and cleanup are believed to have occurred between 8:05 a.m. and 10:25 a.m.”

10:25 a.m. — 69 Welles Lane, New Canaan

Jennifer Dulos’ Suburban is seen leaving her home on the neighbor’s security video. Police said in the warrant they believe Fotis Dulos was driving and his wife’s body was inside. “Cellular data obtained from Jennifer’s cellphone is consistent with the phone moving from Welles Lane to Lapham Road during this timeframe,” the warrant said.

11:12 a.m. — Merritt Parkway northbound, New Canaan rest area

Security footage shows the Tacoma traveling northbound passing the rest area, the warrant said.

11:25 a.m. — Merritt Parkway northbound, Fairfield rest area

The Tacoma is seen passing the rest stop. “This location is approximately 15 miles north of the previous location, which is consistent with the Toyota traveling at approximately 70 mph,” the warrant said.

11:40 a.m. — Route 8 northbound, Derby

The Tacoma is seen passing the Valley Transit District at 12 Main St. in Derby. “This location is approximately 15 miles from the previous location, which is consistent with the Toyota traveling at approximately 60 mph,” the warrant said.

Noon — Interstate 84 eastbound, Waterbury

Security video footage captures the Tacoma passing the location on I-84 eastbound near Exit 25A.

12:22 a.m. — 80 Mountain Spring Road, Farmington

A residential security system shows the Tacoma arriving at a Mountain Spring Road home owned by Fotis Dulos’ company, Fore Group.
