Supreme Court judge lunches with Kiwanians

State Supreme Court Judge Dennis G. Eveleigh will be the guest speaker Wednesday, Nov. 30, at the Wilton Kiwanis Club meeting at WEPCO on New Canaan Road.

Lunch will be served at 12:15 and Eveleigh will begin his talk at 1. Non-members are invited at a cost of $15 per person, but reservations are a must and can be made by calling Bud Taylor at 203 354 0208.

A native of Stamford and graduate of the UConn School of Law, Eveleigh worked as trial counsel at the Bridgeport law firm of Goldstein & Peck from 1972 to 1985, when he started his law practice in Stamford. He remained there until his appointment to the Superior Court on Oct. 1, 1998.

As a superior court justice, Eveleigh has presided over criminal, housing, civil, and juvenile cases. In March of 2010, he was nominated for the state Supreme Court by Gov. M. Jodi Rell, and was sworn in as an associate justice on June 1, 2010.

Since becoming a judge, Eveleigh has served on a number of judicial branch committees, and served as the chairman of the Public Service and Trust Commission’s Complex Litigation Committee. He has also served as a member of the judicial branch’s Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, the Teleconferencing Committee, External Affairs Advisory Board, Judges’ Advisory Committee on E-Filing, and the Civil Commission. Eveleigh currently serves as the chairperson of the Rules Committee of the Superior Court.
