Support group aids those with loss of a parent

Wilton's Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer a free, eight-week bereavement support group to help adults cope with loss following the death of a parent.

The group will meet Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 5:30, beginning Sept. 26, and will continue through Nov. 14.

"In this support group we will address common reactions to the death of a parent including depression, anger, fear, loneliness and guilt," said the Rev. Marti Bishop, an interfaith minister and grief and bereavement counselor with the agency. "While the death of a parent is an expected life cycle event, it is the loss of the most fundamental relationship in our lives and the effect can be profound."

The group will meet in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at i.park, 761 Main Avenue (Route 7) on the Norwalk/Wilton town line.

Pre-registration is required; call 203-834-6341, ext. 255.
