Wilton’s Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County will offer a free, eight-week bereavement support group to help parents cope with the most devastating loss they can experience, the death of a child. The group will meet weekly on Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 4:30, beginning Jan. 28 and continuing through March 18.
“Bereaved parents often experience more anger, depression, guilt and physical symptoms than those grieving other kinds of losses,” said Laurie Petrasanta, a social worker with the nursing agency. “This support group will offer bereaved parents a safe place to talk about their child and their loss as well as their fears, anxieties and other feelings.”
Meetings will take place in the agency’s offices in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center at 761 Main Avenue (Route 7) on the Norwalk/Wilton town line.
The group is open to the public but pre-registration is required. Call 203-834-6341, ext. 316.
