Hillside Cemetery will sponsor a Sunrise Easter Service at 6:30 on April 5. The interfaith, ecumenical service will involve three churches this year: Wilton Presbyterian, Wilton Baptist and Wilton Congregational.
This is the second year for the joint sunrise service, with the same churches participating last year. The service will include guitar music, hymns, and readings from the pastors of each churches: Rev. Shannon White, Rev. Jason Coker, and Rev. Arnold Thomas.
The service will take place in the presence of a tall cross, handmade by Ian Tesar from antique barn timber.
Pam Brown, of Wilton Congregational, said although the cemetery is owned by the church it is open to all faiths and “we wanted to start having something where all [Christian] faiths could come together and worship together.”
Those attending should go to the top of the hill, following the drive up to the newly expanded Spruce Section.
