More than 75 members from Hope Church gathered after Sunday services on July 26 to make 970 sandwiches for the Norwalk Housing Authorities Summer Lunch Program.
“This is just one of the ways Hope Church demonstrates love for its surrounding community,” an email from the church said.
The children in the program ordinarily get breakfast and lunch at school, but during the summer that is not possible.
The summer lunch program used to be funded by the Norwalk Housing Authority, but is no longer. Now Bridgeport Rescue Mission collaborates with local churches to fill the gap.
Hope Church has been involved in helping to provide lunches for four years, and has also participated in fundraising for the program.
