Storm debris drop-off remains open through end of December
Property owners still cleaning up from Storm Sandy have a few more weeks to bring fallen trees, limbs and other debris to the town's storm debris drop-off point.
The drop-off area, in the parking lot behind Comstock Community Center on School Road, will be open through the end of the month.
Hours of operation will be:
• Monday through Friday, 8 to 4.
• Saturday and Sunday, 9 to 2.
There will be no drop-off hours Sunday through Tuesday, Dec. 22-25. The drop-off will re-open after Christmas on Dec. 26.
Monday, Dec. 31, will be the last day the storm debris drop-off area will be open.
The location is open to Wilton residents only and proof of residency is required.
Neither the town nor the state will pick up private property storm debris placed along the roadside. Property owners who are able to do so are advised to chip or compost their storm debris.
Permits for the burning of brush — no leaves — are available during regular business hours at the Wilton Fire Department headquarters on Danbury Road.
