SOUTH WINDSOR — Police are warning residents to lock their cars after someone was caught on security footage trying to break into a vehicle in a driveway over the weekend.

The resident posted the video Sunday morning to the Ring Neighbors App, warning others in the area of Quarry Brook, Stanley Drive and Sally Drive to check their vehicles.

The video shows an individual get out of a vehicle that stopped on the street. The person approached two vehicles in the resident’s driveway and tried to open the driver’s door on each vehicle. Both doors were locked. The individual got back into the waiting car, which then drove away.

“These attempted car burglars don't need the cover of darkness to commit their crimes,” police said. “Please, like this resident, lock your cars and take your keys/valuables inside.”
