Snow moves in, library and YMCA will close early
With a light snow falling, Wilton Library will open at 10 this morning but close at 1. The library plans to open at 1 as usual on Sunday, Dec. 15, but that could change depending on the weather. Patrons should call 203-762-3950 or visit wiltonlibrary.org before heading in.
The Wilton Y is open this afternoon but will close at 5. The Y plans to open Sunday morning at 8, but patrons should check first at wiltonymca.org.
Bella & Co. in Cannondale and Open House Gift Shop in Wilton Center have announced they will be open today.
Metro-North reports good service this morning on both the Danbury branch and New Haven lines.
CL&P reports no outages at this time anywhere in its service area.
The National Weather Service reports it is 19 degrees in Wilton with a light wind at 7 mph. A winter storm warning remains in effect today until 6 Sunday morning, Dec. 15.
Heavy snow is in the forecast for today changing to freezing rain late tonight. Four to eight inches of snow is expected with temperatures in the mid 20s.
The snow will be light this morning, picking up in intensity late this afternoon.
Travel may be hazardous and should be avoided if possible.
Overnight will bring a wintry mix, and then a 30% chance of rain on Sunday with a high of 41.
On Friday afternoon, First Selectman Bill Brennan said town snowplows will be out in force this weekend with the goal of having everything cleaned up by Sunday, in time for school buses on Monday morning.
