Saving on paving

At Monday night’s Board of Selectman’s meeting, Tom Thurkettle, Wilton’s public works director, announced American Paving, for the third year in a row, will give the town a price of $104 per ton for asphalt, compared to the state low-bid price of $113 per ton.

American Paving has been doing the actual paving of Wilton roads as part of the five-year road restoration plan. Town workers prepare the roads handling the milling, storm drain replacement, etc. So far this spring, milling and paving have been completed on Friendlee Lane and Buckingham Ridge Road.

Work has been progressing on Forest Lane, Abbott Lane and Crofoot Road, according to the town website.

The company is also donating $30,000 to pave an area in front of fire headquarters.
