Rotary seeks two host families

Wilton Rotary is still seeking two host families for an exchange student who will attend Wilton High School in the fall. Three families are needed and one has signed on so far.
The club is sponsoring a 17-year-old named Elise, who will visit Wilton from Japan. She has studied English for 16 years. A music-lover, Elise plays piano at home and  percussion in her school band.
She will live with three families during the course of one academic year as she attends Wilton High School as a full-time student.
The Rotary club is seeking two families with at least one child at home who attends Wilton High School and who can introduce Elise to some fellow students. Elise would live with them for about three months, participating in the family’s life just as their own children do.
She will live with the first host family from mid to late August through late November.  The second family hosts from late November to late February. And the third family hosts from late February through May.
The objectives of the program are to enable students to study first-hand some of the problems and accomplishments of people in a country other than their own; and to broaden their outlook by meeting and learning to live with people of different cultures. They are also expected to act as ambassadors for their own country by addressing youth groups and community organizations and teaching us about their culture.
Anyone interested in participating is asked to call Elizabeth A. Edwards at 203-544-9945 or email Beth@eedwardslaw.com.
