Roads are quiet, supermarkets are open
Near white-out conditions of driving snow with high winds meant most drivers stayed off the roads this morning, according to the Wilton Police Department.
Police reported no trees down or other problems related to the storm as of 10 a.m.
At the local supermarkets, only one, the Village Market, was checking on the weather periodically to determine whether to close early. The other two, Stop & Shop and Caraluzzi’s, intend to stay open until their regular weekday closing times, which are 9 p.m. and 10 p.m., respectively.
Just before 12 p.m., Wilton Police dispatchers reported that the situation remained calm, with most drivers staying home and no trees or power lines down. The situation remained the same just before 2 p.m. A tree was reported down on Kensett Avenue after that, but police said the Department of Public Works had cleared it from the road just before 3 p.m. There were no further trees down by 4 p.m.
Eversource reported four customers out in Wilton just before 2 p.m., and 32 outages at 4 p.m.
