Retired flags
American Legion Post 86 had its annual flag retirement ceremony earlier this fall when members burned worn or faded flags no longer suitable for display. The local Children of the American Revolution chapter participated as well as the local Boy Scouts. At left, the post’s chaplain, Frank Dunn, and Commander Don Hazzard inspect the flags set for burning and proper disposal. Anyone with a torn or tattered American flag may leave it in the box next to the entrance of Legion Hall at 112 Old Ridgefield Road and it will be kept for next year’s ceremony.
