Rescue mission needs volunteers Saturday

On Saturday, July 26, Wilton Stop & Shop is hosting a food drive for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, which is in need of volunteers for the event.

The rescue mission’s warehouse in Bridgeport was broken into three times over the weekend of July 4, and the organization is scrambling to replace the food and clothing that was stolen during the break-in.

Items taken include “pounds and pounds of ground meat, many cases of vegetables, and a variety of other foods and clothing,” said Donor Relations Officer Mary Aly.

Summer is normally a very difficult period for the organization, as many of its donors go away for the summer.

Volunteers are needed for two shifts in Wilton on Saturday, from 10 to 1, and from 1 to 4.

Anyone who is interested in volunteering at the food drive may contact Ms. Aly at 203-333-4087, or by email at mary.aly@gmail.com.
