WILTON — The town’s traditional fireworks show returned July 4, when a crowd of locals, donned in red, white and blue, piled onto the fields at Wilton High School.

Attendees were able to enjoy a full day of fun on Monday, marking the event’s full return for the first time since the onset of the pandemic

The Freedom Run 5K took place earlier in the day at the Wilton High School track before families and students populated the fields with blankets, coolers and tents to reserve their spot for the fireworks show.

A live DJ played music for attendees leading up to the fireworks, while a number of food trucks were set up as well. The show began in the later afternoon and ended by 9 p.m.

Wilton Community Emergency Response Team was on hand to ensure that all safety measures were followed and attendees were positioned in a spot safe for viewing.
