Wilton Police Officer Gregg Phillipson was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Sept. 10 in the Annex Building on the town hall campus. Joined by his family and members of the police, fire, and ambulance corps, Sgt. Phillipson raised his right hand and swore to carry out the duties of a police sergeant.

Mr. Phillipson is the department’s training officer, and is an accident reconstruction expert. He has been relied on as an acting-sergeant in the past, Chief Michael Lombardo said during the presentation, and performed admirably.

The chief had nothing but kind words for Mr. Philipson’s dedication to the Wilton community during the ceremony.

“Sgt. Phillipson is presently the training officer for the department, a member of the Regional Emergency Response Team, an accident reconstructionist and a field training officer of new recruits,” he said during the brief ceremony. “Sgt. Phillipson has received many commendations throughout his career and in 2005 was named Officer of the Year.”
