Parent support group
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Child and Adolescent Network (CAN) offers a support group is for parents of children under age 18 with behavioral, emotional and mental health issues. These groups are free, confidential, safe and led by trained and certified volunteer facilitators who themselves have had personal experiences raising children with these concerns.
Typical issues include frustration resulting from a child’s challenging behavior, the effect of such behavior on siblings and others in the family, and feeling alone in parenting a challenging child.
The group meets on the fourth Monday of every month. The next meeting is Monday, June 27, from 10 to 11:30, in the G & B Cultural Center, 49 New Street.
