Officer goes ‘over the edge’ for Special Olympics

Wilton Police Officer Diane Maclean went “over the edge” for Special Olympics Connecticut on Thursday, Sept. 12, while raising more than $1,000 for the charity.

Ms. Maclean rappelled down the side of a 16-story building in Stamford after receiving donations to help her meet the $1,000 entry fee.

According to a press release issued by Lt. Donald Wakeman, “After being fitted with a harness and heading up to the roof, Officer MacLean received instructions on how to go ‘Over the Edge.’ Officer MacLean, who had no previous experience in rappelling, is already looking forward to participating in the next Special Olympics fund-raiser rappelling event.”

Special Olympics Connecticut (SOCT) aims to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with disabilities.

The Over the Edge fund-raiser was held at the 101 Park Place building in Stamford, and was organized directly by SOCT.
