Norwalk Hospital will  host a community blood drive to benefit patients in hospitals on Friday, July 17, from 8 to 12:45 in the Patio Room on the fifth floor.
Donors must be at least 17-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in  general good health.
The American Red Cross recommends drinking plenty of fluids on the day of donation, wearing comfortable clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up, eating iron-rich foods in the weeks prior to donation and bringing a list of any medications taken along with a photo identification.
The actual donation only takes about 10 minutes, however, donors  should allow one hour for registering, giving a confidential health history, and enjoying refreshments after donating.
