A resurfacing project on I-95 will require the closure of ramps in Norwalk and Darien, beginning tonight, Oct. 1.
The project begins at Exit 10 (Norton Avenue) and ends at Exit 15 (US 7) in both the northbound and southbound directions.
I-95 northbound and southbound Exits 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 on and off ramps will be closed at various dates from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday. There will be detours in place with detour signs posted to guide motorists around the closures.
The project consists of micro milling 2.5 inches of the wearing surface and replacing it with 3 inches of Polymer Modified Asphalt, according to the state Department of Transportation. Also, the top two inches of the wearing surface on all ramps within the project limits will be replaced.
Work is being performed by O&G Industries, Inc. of Torrington at a cost of $14.5 million. It is expected to be completed in November, weather permitting.
