News Notes: Speedy giving

More than 250 nonprofit organizations will participate in the Fairfield County Community Foundation’s “24 Hours To Give” event, which has a goal of raising $1 million in 24 hours in a marathon online event Friday, March 7.

Four agencies from Wilton will be represented: The Wilton Family Y, Stay at Home in Wilton, Trout Unlimited, and the Wilton Historical Society.

According to Karen Strickland of the Y, donors may click on between midnight Friday and midnight Saturday and make a gift to the charity of their choice.

“The Y’s goal for the 24-hour period is to reach a total of 150 donations, which is the number of children who need financial assistance to attend our summer camp program,” she said. “FC Gives is generously offering matching funds for those organizations who hit certain goals, so please participate and tell friends to help Wilton organizations have a successful showing that benefit deserving causes.”
