More than 200 in Wilton without power, Belden Hill Road closed
2:30 p.m. — Although power outages are now down in the 80s, they may persist a while longer. Cl&P reports the utility pole involved needs to be replaced and the crew is waiting for a crew from AT&T to arrive on the scene. The pole is owned by AT&T.
1 p.m. —There are 206 customers without power this afternoon in Wilton following trouble with a transformer on Belden Hill Road. Homes without power are primarily on Belden Hill Road, Drum Hill Road, Glen Hill Road and Old Farms Road.
CL&P reports workers are on the scene.
Police have closed Belden Hill Road between Drum Hill and Windy Ridge. The road is expected to be closed several hours.
CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross said he did not have details on the power outage, but emphasized the transformer did not “blow.” The bang and flash of light sometimes seen is the transformer cutting power, he said. The wires may have come in contact with the tree branches as they fell, he said.
