Man charged with fatally shooting Wilton teacher will be arraigned this afternoon
Robert Bell, 63, the man charged with first-degree manslaughter with a firearm and disorderly conduct, for the alleged fatal shooting of his wife, Svetlana, a Cider Mill School music teacher, on Saturday night, Dec. 8, was arraigned at Danbury Superior Court on Monday, Dec. 10, and was held on $750,000 bond.
Ms. Bell was found on the kitchen floor of her New Fairfield home after police received an emergency call from Mr. Bell, requesting an ambulance. She was found unresponsive with four gunshot wounds in the chest area, according to the Associated Press.
She was taken to Danbury Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
A native of Russia, Ms. Bell joined the Wilton School District in 2006. She received a degree from a university in Russia, and upon coming to the United States she received her teaching certification from Charter Oak. She has a degree in music from Western Connecticut State University.
