Library welcomes pianist Bill Charlap

Jazz pianist Bill Charlap visits Wilton Library for a Hot & Cool: Jazz at the Brubeck Room concert on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This well-known jazz musician has performed and recorded with many leading artists from jazz masters Phil Woods and Wynton Marsalis to singers Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand. He will be playing a repertoire of his interpretations of American popular songs.

Mr. Charlap signed with Blue Note Records in 2000 and has since received two Grammy Award nominations for “Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein” and “The Bill Charlap Trio: Live at the Village Vanguard.”

He is the artistic director of New York City’s Jazz in July Festival at the 92nd Street Y, and has produced several concerts for Jazz at Lincoln Center and an evening of George Gershwin’s music at the Hollywood Bowl.

An informal reception follows the concert. The suggested donation is $10 per person. Advance registration is strongly suggested.
