Concert season is here! Tonight is the opening concert for the library\u2019s Summer Music & More Concert Series, from 5 to 6:30, with Over Easy providing throwback tunes from the \u201960s and \u201970s. The series has been generously sponsored by The Village Market for all 18 seasons. The concerts and refreshments are free and open to everyone, with wine donated by Michael Crystal. The series continues on July 12 with an a cappella group, The Conn Artists, performing for the first time in the Brubeck Room. Billy & The Showmen return for a second year on July 19 providing the full brass sound of R&B songs from the \u201960s, \u201970s and more. Steve Kazlauskas closes out the series on July 26 with his Echoes of Sinatra performance, crooning favorites from the Rat Pack era. His crowd-pleasing appearance marks the sixth year he brings the Great American Songbook to the library. There are no reservations. Summer reading begins Kids get to kick off their Reading is Out of this World! Summer Reading Program with a free party on Friday, June 29, from 1 to 4. In addition to registering for summer reading for Pre-K to grade 6, kids of all ages can enjoy a bounce house, games and other fun stuff. No registration is required. Activities including drop-in story times, entertainment programs and lots of animals begin the week of July 9 and run through Aug. 24. More information is available on the library\u2019s website. Last call The 74th annual Wilton Artists Summer Show is quickly coming together with artists bringing in their works this Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30, from 10 to 4. The show is for adult artists who live or work in Wilton. Artists may submit a total of two pieces for this non-juried show. Paintings, pastels, drawings and sculptures will be accepted. The works must be wired and ready for hanging with the exception of the sculptures. Photography will not be accepted. Forms and information may be found on the library\u2019s website. A reception that is free and open to the public will be held on Friday, July 13, from 6 to 7:30. The exhibition runs through Aug. 28. Teen summer reading takes off On Sunday, July 1, teens and tweens entering grades 6 through 12 may register online for Reading Takes You Everywhere! Teen Summer Reading. The program continues for eight weeks ending on Saturday, Aug. 25. Kids can log onto Wandoo Reader and then track their reading anywhere they go as long as they have internet connections. Sketch artist Emma Keating, a Wilton High School alumnus, provides a cartoon drawing demonstration on Fridays in July, from 4 to 4:45. This very talented student, who is entering her second year at Purchase College where she is studying film, will be creating sketches on the spot for kids in third through sixth grade July 6, 13, 20 and 27. This is a drop-in program; no registration is necessary. Coding for kids There are still a few spots open for the five-day program, Scratch Coding for Kids, July 9-13, from 2 to 3, for kids in fourth through sixth grade. Students will learn how to design and animate sprites, backgrounds, and other objects, as well as receive an introduction into game design. The program will be taught by Rishabh Raniwala, a rising junior at Wilton High School and co-captain of Wilton Library's own robotics team, Singularity Technology. Kids must attend all five sessions.
