League members talk about travel to Cuba

UPDATE, Jan. 26: Due to the blizzard of Jan. 26-27, this meeting is canceled.

Lonely Planet calls Cuba “a prince in a poor man’s coat … If the country were a book, it would be James Joyce’s Ulysses; layered, hard to grasp, serially misunderstood, but — above all — a classic.”

Cuba will be the subject of discussion at the Wilton League of Women Voters’ steering committee meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 7 p.m., in the senior lounge at Comstock Community Center, 180 School road. All League members, friends, and the public are invited.

Wilton LWV member Barbara Quincy and Norwalk residents Stuart and Galen Wells recently returned from a mid-November cultural exchange trip to Cuba, under the auspices of the People to People Educational Exchanges authorized by President Obama in 2011. Their tour returned home right before the U.S. re-established diplomatic relations with Cuba.
