Kiwanis lunch features talk on pain relief

Cathy Paine will give an introduction to the Feldenkrais Method at the Wilton Kiwanis lunch on Wednesday, Oct. 29. Ms. Paine is a certified instructor in the innovative movement method designed to relieve pain, exercise the brain and teach people how to move with greater comfort, ease, and fluidity.

Ms. Paine is an award-winning professional dancer and choreographer. For more than 35 years, she danced in the United States, England, Germany, and Hong Kong. A movement coach with a master’s degree from UCLA and a guild-certified Feldenkrais teacher, Ms. Paine has taught at the University of Maryland, Kenyon College, and Mary Washington University.

She discovered the Feldenkrais Method while searching for relief from arthritis pain in her hip. She has been a certified Feldenkrais practitioner since 1997, specializing in working with performing artists, athletes and seniors.

Wilton’s oldest service club, Kiwanis meets weekly for lunch at the Episcopal Presbyterian Complex on New Canaan Road. Meetings every Wednesday at noon feature a social hour, catered lunch, and then a speaker of local interest. Information: 203-762-9951.
