The Kiwanis Club of Wilton will be added as a sponsor of this Sunday’s free concert at Schenck’s Island/Chess Park featuring local band, Open Road. The concert will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., July 23, at Schenck’s Island with seating on the island and across the river at the Chess Park.

Concert goers are encouraged to set up a blanket or chair, bring a picnic and sit back and enjoy the music. Parking will be available across the street from the Chess Park; only handicap parking will be allowed at Schenck’s Island.

“It is great to have Kiwanis as a sponsor for our second show at Schenck’s and the Chess Park,” said First Selectman Lynne Vanderslice. “Without their generous support, we wouldn’t have the chess park, so it is wonderful they are stepping up again to support the concert in the park.”

The final two concerts in the 2017 Summer Concert Series will be at Merwin Meadows from 5 to 7 with Wilton Rocks For Food Allstars on July 30, and One Bad Oyster on Aug. 6.  Food trucks will be on site at Merwin Meadows offering food and beverages.

In addition to the Kiwanis Club, the concert series is being underwritten by the Wilton Parks and Recreation Department, The FAIR Group — William Raveis Real Estate, and by a challenge donation from Lynne and Paul Vanderslice. Corporate or individual contributions in any amount would also be welcome. For information on how to make a contribution, visit the Wilton Parks and Recreation website at wiltonparksandrec.org or email Sarah Gioffre at sarah.gioffre@wiltonct.org.
