The National Weather Service has issued a head advisory though 8 p.m. this evening for Fairfield County.

Heat and humidity are on tap for the beginning of the week, with the temperature already at 85 degrees.

Heat index values around 100 are likely, due to temperatures expected to climb into the 90s. They will occur this afternoon and early this evening.

Anyone working outside should take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Anyone overcome by heat should  e moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency — call 911.

The forecast for today is sunny, with a high of 95. Tonight will be mostly clear, with the low around 69 degrees. The forecast is pretty much the same through Friday.
