Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps will conduct a free hands-only CPR class on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 7 to 9 p.m., at Cannon Grange Hall, 25 Cannon Road.

This type of CPR is done without mouth-to-mouth breaths. Using it can help a teen or adult who suddenly collapses until emergency responders arrive.

Most people who experience cardiac arrest at home, work or in a public place die because they don't receive immediate CPR from someone on the scene. Those offering such assistance are protected under Good Samaritan laws.

There is no minimum age for taking the class. The ability to perform CPR is based more on body strength than age, according to the ambulance corps. Children who can listen and follow directions for the duration of the class are welcome.

This class will not result in American Heart Association certification.

Registration is required. Visit http://bit.ly/2aOyzYq and bring the registration ticket confirmation received via email to the class. The registration link is also on the ambulance corps Facebook page.
