Halloween Hustle 5K kicks off holiday events
The Wilton Chamber of Commerce's 10th Annual Halloween Hustle 5K and Scarecrow Scamper are returning to Wilton Center on Sunday, Oct. 28, sponsored by The Wilton Bank.
Check-in for the 5K begins at 9 Sunday morning at the Wilton Chamber of Commerce at 120 Old Ridgefield Road in Wilton Center. The race begins at 10 and follows a course from Wilton Center, up Ridgefield Road to Lover's Lane, through the Merwin Meadows trail and the school complex, with a turn-around at the field house, and then back to the Merwin Meadows pavilion.
The entry fee, which includes a special 10th anniversary commemorative T-shirt to all pre-registered runners who sign up before Oct. 19, is $25 for adults, $10 for youth.
After Oct. 19, the price is $30 for adults. Registration may be accomplished online at active.com or at wiltonchamber.com.
The Kids Scarecrow Scamper Fun Run starts directly after the Halloween Hustle at the Merwin Meadows pavilion, loops around the soccer field and returns back to the pavilion. Entry to the Kids Run is $10, which includes the special edition T-shirt and medal for all participants.
Hustle participants will run past some of the entries in the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Fest in Wilton Center, which begins Oct. 19 and runs through Nov. 2.
Annual trick-or-treating is slated for Saturday, Oct. 27, from 2 to 4, in Wilton Center, along with the annual Chilfen's Halloween Costume Parade, which begins at 2:15. The parade assembles at the town Gazebo and participants will be led on a short route by Cat in the Hat and Gordy the Gator. New this year, Moments by Andrea Photography will be set up at the gazebo offering free professional portraits of children in their costumes, collecting donations to benefit the Wilton Interfaith Food Pantry.
