River Road Gallery's new show, "Close to the Heart," features the paintings of Anda Styler, who will show work created from her travels throughout Connecticut. The show opens with a reception on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ms. Styler orchestrates strong contrasts of light and color together with notes of brightness. Her eye is attracted by post and beam, clapboard and shingle, and so her landscapes highlight Connecticut homes, barns and gardens. She has traveled from Wilton to Guilford, from Weir Farm National Historic Site to Westport, from farmlands to the seashore.

"Her enthusiasm and love for the Connecticut landscape is visible in each of her paintings," said Roslyn Strizver, owner and director of River Road Gallery, commenting on the artist's use of color.

A graduate of Western Connecticut State University and Parsons School of Design, Ms. Styler has exhibited widely throughout the United States and been featured in several magazines, including The Artist Magazine.

"Close to the Heart" will run through Jan. 7. Art may be previewed at riverrdgallery.com. River Road Gallery is at 21 River Road in Wilton Center and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 to 6.
