Ms. President US held its eighth session on Friday, March 5. The session focused on communication strategies and developing a successful campaign for the upcoming election for Ms. President US.

The participants arrived through Zoom, and the session started off with a recap Kahoot game of everything learned throughout the previous seven sessions.

Ms. President US mentor Savannah Joseph introduced guest speaker Sarah Craven, the director for the United Nations Population Fund office in Washington D.C., and the senior adviser for the Office of Population at the U.S. State Department. Craven gave us a glimpse into her life working for the United Nations, and the participants were able to ask her questions on all sorts of topics, including her biggest accomplishments. She talked about running a campaign, saying that it is important to form a campaign around an issue of great value.

The session also focused on developing a successful campaign speech. The importance of articulating one’s issue, using precise language, practicing, and pacing oneself was greatly emphasized. It was an incredibly informative lesson about public speaking and communication that the participants will take with them for the elections.

This was the last session before the big election, which will take place March 21, at 4 p.m. We encourage everyone to attend and vote for the next Ms. President US of each town represented.

Ms. President US is dedicated to motivating, and preparing girls to aim for the highest civic leadership positions.
