Feds issue flash flood warning for Wilton beginning today

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Watch through Wednesday for southern Connecticut — including Wilton.

Up to three inches of rain may hit Wilton beginning noon Monday.

The Flash Flood Watch is in effect for Fairfield County from noon on Monday, through all of Tuesday, until Wednesday morning.

“Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will move across the region ahead of a cold front this afternoon through late Tuesday night,” said the NWS, warning of the potential for “torrential downpours with storm total rainfall between 2 to 3 inches. Locally higher amounts can be expected.”

This could lead to flooding in urbanized areas, low-lying areas, roadways, rivers and streams, and places with poor drainage.
