Environmental champions sought for award ceremony

Aquarion Water Company is seeking nominees for its Environmental Champion Awards program — adults, students, small and large businesses, and nonprofits whose volunteer efforts have protected or improved Connecticut’s air, water, soils or plant and wildlife communities.
The company will name winners in five categories: adult, student, small business, large business and nonprofit organization.
Awards will include a $1,000 prize for the student winner and $2,500 contributions to environmental nonprofit organizations selected by the other category winners. Aquarion will honor winners on June 6 at a special event to be held at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport. Participating in the awards ceremony will be U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and other dignitaries.
The deadline for nominations is May 6. Self-nominations and renominations are welcome.
